Fri 21 Apr
Subscription offer ends 11 May
Founded by saxophonist Bruno Macher, Peruvian salsa dura orchestra, Sabor Y Control are on a mission to rescue the roots of their genre, establishing a sound and lyrical identity all their own on the way.
With 8 albums produced to date, this ensemble of over 10 performers, seek to convey the elements that define their neighbourhood; turning their experiences of their homeland into music. Interpreting and sharing their culture and way of life with festival and concert goers across the globe is a passion they feel strongly about.
Originating in New York in the 1970’s, salsa dura is a style of salsa music which places emphasis on the instrumental part of the music, (piano, bass, horns, percussion, etc.), over the vocals. Don’t miss this professional outfit in their Cairns debut.
