International Day of the African Child

A cultural event open to the wider community showcasing African cuisine, music, art and dance with artistic performances by local African children and headlining international act Simba Mushete & Echoes of Africa.

Simba Mushete & Echoes of Africa was founded in the 2013 by Simbarashe Mushete with hopes of sharing African cultural talents with the community through music, dance and arts enhancing the integration to Australian society. The group performs traditional Zimbabwean music and Zimbabwean Chigiyo music with an influence from Zimbabwe’s Superstars.

African drumming with Elliott Orr and Spankinhide QLD’s hottest drum and dance ensemble are also set to perform at the event and will run some African drumming workshops on the Tanks Markets Stage before the event.

A selection of traditional African foods will be on sale at the event.
