Tank 4 Gallery
Subject to Change is a residency and exhibition project, its title as much about the artist as the process of creation.
After 14 years in the police force working as a child abuse investigator, Lachlan Mackee was gifted wheel-throwing lessons and immediately bonded with clay. The meditative state reached while throwing on the wheel, the grounded connection to the earth and artistic expression of a solid material turned fluid are what fuels his creative exploration. In 2023, Lachlan established Service Ceramics, focusing on creating utilitarian tableware and vessels heavily inspired by Japanese and Indian ceramics.
Lachlan spent the majority of 2024 in India studying traditional production pottery and wood firing and brings his learnings to the Tanks for a month of making and sharing. Lachlan will be in his studio/exhibition space making a target of 100 works for wood firing.
