Music is a powerful trigger of memory. It is uncanny how a song can instantly transport you back in time. Whether it be a moment of joy or despair, love or heartbreak, frustration or peace. Life Sounds Like… is a project that explores this through an Australian music lens.
In 2023 Regular Rick produced a film celebrating the power of music by documenting a diverse collection of memories and stories from 40 different Cairns’ residents. Each story and/or memory was directly connected to an Australian song. This year Regular Rick invited a cross section of Cairns visual artists and creatives to respond to the stories and songs within the film. Life Sounds Like… is both a response to the film and a continuing celebration of all things Oz Music.
