Tank 4 Gallery
Artist, educator, and author, Michelle Brayshaw presents the culmination of her science-based, visual art practice-led master’s research degree.
Michelle’s stunning photographic works and paintings offer a glimpse into the complex world of the Scarini and their intrinsic link with the reef and nurtures a love and understanding for this beautiful world.
Sex-change, Screens and the Secret Signals of the Scarini celebrates and reveals the transient colours of the Parrotfish who constantly change through the colours and patterns of their beautiful bodies. This both camouflages and imparts secret signals which entice sexual behaviour, reveal their erratic moods and display curious social behaviours. Scarini are protogynous sequential hermaphrodites and can change sex from coral-coloured females to gorgeous rainbow-coloured male wonders.
