Tony Kloss has spent a lifetime wandering in the bush, closely observing how the animals and plants react in their environment to different stimuli. And for a good part of that lifetime, he’s made those wanderings with a camera, in the neighbourhood of Mt Whitfield where Tony lives.
This selection of Tony’s photographs and videos is a study of some of the extraordinary insects Tony has encountered, their diets, mating habits, metamorphoses, and their peculiar features. Tony’s casual, and often humorous narration, and his witty writing style makes his love for the natural world infectious.
“No animals were harmed in the production of this display as much of the work was achieved in the field or, if I did bring any critters home, I always released them on finishing my photographing or filming. Most of these creatures have a short enough life without me making it any briefer.”
Tony Kloss knows an awful lot about the insects he photographs. Come meet Tony and talk about insects in a series of informal sessions on Saturdays throughout the exhibition.
