Create your own green screen stop-motion movie using handmade sets and characters!

This workshop teaches kids how to create small-scale stop-motion animations using tabletop green screen stages. From planning a story and designing miniature sets to animating movement and compositing scenes, participants will gain a hands-on understanding of how green screen stop-motion works.

They’ll learn how to develop a short story using a structured framework, build characters and props from craft materials, and work collaboratively to bring their ideas to life through animation.

Key Learning Modules:

• How Green Screen Stop-Motion Works: An introduction to small-scale tabletop green screen animation and the basic workflow.
• Storytelling Basics: Develop short stories using the program’s six-stage storyboard framework, with themed prompts or original ideas.
• Planning & Storyboarding: Learn how to map out scenes and shots before animating.
• Designing Characters, Props & Sets: Build miniature elements using craft materials.
• Animating Movement: Practice creating smooth motion through small, incremental movements.
• Lighting & Framing: Learn simple techniques for even lighting and clear shot composition.
• Green Screen Compositing: Understand how backgrounds and animated elements are combined digitally.
• Collaborative Storytelling: Work in pairs, sharing ideas and roles throughout the process.

By the end of this workshop, kids will have created a short green screen stop-motion animation planned through storyboards and built with handmade characters and sets.
